40-hour TCOLE Accredited Course
This certified Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) course teaches participants how to reduce crime by improving the physical environment. Designed for School Resource Officers (SROs), law enforcement personnel, planners, and safety professionals, this course emphasizes the impact of design, management, and maintenance on human behavior and security outcomes.
Participants will learn practical CPTED strategies—such as access control, surveillance, and territoriality—while exploring how to apply them in various settings, including schools, multifamily housing, commercial properties, and public spaces. The course also addresses premises liability, critical infrastructure protection, and assessments of environmental crime.
Crime Prevention I (TCOLE 2101)
40 TCOLE Hours | Community Policing, Physical Security & Cyber Awareness
This foundational course equips law enforcement officers, school resource officers (SROs), and community liaisons with essential tools for crime prevention, physical security, and IT/cyber awareness. Crime Prevention II (TCOLE 2102)
40 TCOLE Hours | Hands-On Training for Law Enforcement & Community Policing
This advanced training course is designed for law enforcement professionals dedicated to proactive, problem-oriented policing and community crime prevention. Participants will learn how to conduct risk and vulnerability assessments in commercial and high-risk areas, implement structured response models, and evaluate the effectiveness of crime reduction initiatives.
Through real-world scenarios, team-based exercises, and structured reviews, this course strengthens your ability to identify recurring problems, build trust, and deliver sustainable public safety outcomes.
The Certified Crime Prevention Specialist (CCPS) Exam is an official TCOLE examination administered by the Crime Reduction Institute (CRI). This exam evaluates a candidate’s knowledge in crime prevention principles, community engagement, and problem-solving strategies essential to modern law enforcement and public safety roles.
Successfully passing the exam awards the student the official designation of Certified Crime Prevention Specialist.
TCOLE 2101, 2102, 2103 Course Completion Required
To qualify for the Certified Crime Prevention Specialist (CCPS) Exam, you must complete TCOLE courses 2101, 2102, and 2103. The Crime Reduction Institute (CRI) accepts these course numbers from any TCOLE-accredited provider.
While the review session is not required, it is highly recommended for anyone preparing to take the exam for the first time or looking to reinforce core concepts.
