Why do we prepare?
Each year, the frequency of active attacks increases, with the most significant increases coming in the past few years. In 2017 the number of mass shootings jumped to eleven in one year. In 2018 and 2022, there were twelve reported incidents in the United States in each of those years. More importantly, these and any critical incidents are about the mindset and preparation of would-be victims. Prevention is about preparation and training.
With a population of over 330 million, being involved in a mass attack is a relatively low threat. The greater risk is an angry employee or customer returning to seek revenge, inter-office conflict, and other incidents of violence that are not considered mass attacks. This attack is a significant threat, and employers, churches, and schools must prepare for these more regular daily occurrences that affect many more Americans than large-scale attacks.
Americans enjoy the freedom to move about the country without restriction or fear. Our nation was built on life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Unfortunately, that open and free society creates an expanse filled with many soft targets. The balance between security and freedom is a precarious one.
The CRI preparedness program will help you prepare and learn how to distinguish between security and freedom while ensuring both.
Why do we train?
Training is crucial because it helps employees, teachers, pastors, clerks, police officers, firefighters, soldiers, and sailors to grow their knowledge and improve their skills, to become more effective at their jobs. Training for an unexpected break out of violence in the workplace is the bedrock of preparation. You train to live!
Response to a critical incident is all about mindset. The odds against survival rise and fall according to your training and decision-making process ahead of time. CRI will teach you how to have a will to survive and a will to win any encounter in our preparedness program. CRI’s program is based on these three principles regarding any active attack. If possible, evacuate the area safely, search for concealment or cover, and, if needed, neutralize an attacker.
CRI wants you and your staff to live in the present, live in the moment, knowing you are prepared to face any critical incident. To live first, you must understand evil exists; there are wolves out there, and knowing what to do when confronted will give you peace of mind knowing you are prepared because you are ready and trained for that moment.
CRI will show you how to have something to say or do in a time of danger. CRI teaches your employees and staff a basic methodology to live life enjoying your freedom.
Freedom is not given to you by any person or government; your freedom comes from natural law, which is found in the world around us. CRI stresses an abundance mentality for all people, which teaches personal responsibility and understanding that a rising tide raises all boats.
Facility – Site Security Assessment and Continuity of Business Planning
A CRI consultant will visit your site and conduct a security assessment based on Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design principles. This comprehensive survey looks at potential risks a threat could exploit. Any discovered vulnerabilities are documented in the report, and options for consideration are given for a client’s review. You will receive a full confidential report when it is completed.
While on-site, a CRI consultant will talk with you about business continuity in the event of an active attack or natural disaster that affects operations. CRI understands that revenue, safety, and liability are significant factors in any risk management plan. CRI can help you and your company reduce risk and future liability.
Management – Preparedness Training
Management training is broken into two parts. Part one is an introductory 2-hour course on de-escalation techniques on how to deal with angry patients, clients, employees, etc. This course covers leadership principles, drivers of human behavior, building blocks of de-escalation, basic de-escalation strategies, and practical application scenarios.
Part two is an active attack preparedness response course. This course is three (3) hours and covers basic facts about the suspects, active attack factors, planning and preparation, risk management and assessment, stopping attacks before they happen, and human response under stress and how to deal with it.
Management preparedness also teaches effective communication during an emergency incident, incident command structure, delegation of tasks, and how to keep track of everything that needs to be done. This class focuses on senior leadership, communication managers, lead engineers, warehouse managers, production managers, and security managers.
Employee Preparedness Training
Active attack training for employees is based on employee response and prevention. The employee response course is suitable for large corporations, church congregations, small businesses, doctors’ offices, hospitals, etc. Emergency Preparedness is a 2-hour course.
This course goes into stress management, early warning signs of a potential attacker, what to expect from emergency responders, and best practices to evacuate, if possible, deny access by concealing themselves, and if needed, defend themselves. Employee response is built on these three action steps Evacuate, Conceal, and Neutralize.
Tabletop Exercise
CRI tabletop exercises ensure company, church, and school leadership understand how to navigate any crisis. These exercises help determine measures needed to preserve employee and staff safety. Secondly, this exercise will ensure a working plan for continued business operations during a critical event. Lastly, CRI tabletop exercises are customized to ensure your company policy, methods, and procedure are followed during an event. It will also help identify vulnerabilities and gaps related to emergency responses.
Live Scenario Training
CRI also offers live scenario training to put into practice what you and your staff have been taught in the training program. This training is typically a 4-hour block of scenario training with three to four real-world scenarios. Your management and employees will put their skills to the test in these scenarios, seeing how they will act when the pressure is on. CRI will test your emergency communication, de-escalation techniques if needed, and response to a violent attack.
This training does NOT include simunition rounds or actual weapons. It is a response-based training based on principles taught in the CRI program. It is designed for upper management, mid-level management, team leader employees, and security to train on real-time incident response in a live scenario.
